Namaste! I’m Annie Au.

My goal is to show you the potential of spiritual fulfillment and happiness by giving you the tools to start practicing yoga and ultimately teaching it to others.

Of course I’m not the Dalai Lamai or Buddha reincarnation. Like you, I am someone who experiences the polarity of happiness and sadness that life gives. In the midst of life transitions, heartbreaks and health scares, I’ve found yoga or what I call my faith in humanity.

The youngest of 3 daughters, I was very different from my sisters. Born and raised in Hong Kong & Canada, I wasn’t the typical Asian child one would expect. Definitely the odd one out, I pursued dancing since the age of 4 and became a professional dancer at the age of 19. I was fortunate to have had a dance career for many years.

I lost my identity when I stopped dancing due to severe physical injuries and emotional fatigue and at the same time my long-term relationship fell apart. I was no longer a dancer or someone’s partner. It was devastating to be completely lost in life. Life at that time seems like fragments of confusion and fear. I knew something needed to change. So I decided to take a yoga teacher training in Thailand.

The first step of towards somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are now. I didn’t know where I would end up but going to Thailand was a calling I couldn’t resist. Most people believe that it’s an easy transition from dance to yoga and I cannot object more strongly. Foremost, dancing feeds the ego and yoga is the exact opposite. What I learned in my first yoga teacher training was to be authentic. I was confronted by my bruised ego and voices of insecurities while finding great sense of peace in my yoga practice. The entire experience was so transformative that I was hooked at once. I even wrote my first published article about my experience. You can read it here:

Discover the Ugly Truth: What I Really learned from a Yoga Teacher Training

You don’t need a plan, sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go and see what happens. And I did. From there, I stayed in Thailand assisting at the school I attended my teacher training. A year later, I co-founded All Yoga Teacher Training School with David Lertsin implementing an authentic and comprehensive teaching program. Within 2 years, the school has expanded to Bali and Taiwan serving 14 yoga teacher trainings per year. We are thankful to have a loving and experienced faculty. Each team member brings something unique and precious to the school. Today we have graduated over 200 students from all over the world.

Never allow waiting to be a habit. Live your dreams and take risks. Life is happening now. Yoga has taught me to stay in the present moment and rid our expectations. I will show you how we can heal from life’s sorrow and achieve our wildest dreams through compassion and self-love. I don’t have a magic wand and neither does yoga. What yoga has presented me is a set of tools to continuously love myself and discover my truest Self in midst of doubts and vulnerability. And I would love to share that with you.

When I’m not leading training, I’m writing blogs, replying emails and watching funny cat videos (like this one and this one.)

Whenever I stumble on an ah-ha moment and turn it into a blog post or offering new immersion and workshops, I think you should be the first to know. Subscribe to my newsletter and get the inside scoop.

Again I’m no sage or angel. I never pretend to have all the answers and I still go through emotional ups and downs.

But my commitment is to bring you the very best of what I’m living and learning and keeping it real and honest as I go.

So don’t expect life-changing wisdom, but expect lots of laughter and open communication…unless you don’t like to laugh- then you won’t dig my occasional jokes and silliness.
