Annie Au Yoga biography

My goal is to show you the potential of spiritual fulfillment and happiness by giving you the tools to start practicing yoga and ultimately teaching it to others. 

Of course, I’m not the Dalai Lamai or a Buddha reincarnation. Like you, I am someone who experiences the polarity of happiness and sadness that life gives. In the midst of life transitions, heartbreaks, and a health scare, I’ve found yoga.

The first step of towards somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are now. I didn’t know where I would end up but going to Thailand was a calling I couldn’t resist. Most people believe that it’s an easy transition from dance to yoga and I cannot object more. Foremost, dancing feeds the ego and yoga are the exact opposite. What I learned in my first yoga teacher training was to be authentic. I was confronted by my bruised ego and voices of insecurities while finding a great sense of peace in my yoga practice. You don’t need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go and see what happens. And I did. A year later, I co-founded a Yoga Teacher Training School implementing an authentic and comprehensive teaching program. Currently, I'm traveling around in various places like Mexico, Canada, US, Thailand and Bali teaching workshops, training and retreats.

Never allow waiting to be a habit. Live your dreams and take risks. Life is happening now. Yoga has taught me to stay in the present moment and rid our expectations. I will show you how we can heal from life’s sorrow and achieve our wildest dreams through compassion and self-love. What yoga has presented me is a set of tools to continuously love myself and discover my truest Self in the midst of doubts and vulnerability. And I would love to share that with you.

Professional Bio:

Annie Au Yin Yoga Teacher Training

Currently a yoga nomad, Annie travels around the world including Mexico, US, Canada, Thailand and Bali teaching yoga. Annie and her partner Dr.Word Smith are one of the first in the industry to offer an integrative Yin Yoga and Chinese Meridians teacher training. Their training is a comprehensive integration of Daoism, Chinese medicine, and yoga philosophy. Annie has certified over 200 yoga teachers worldwide. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia. Specializes in yoga anatomy, Annie infuses anatomy knowledge in her yoga classes to help students practice more intelligently and avoid injuries. Annie can lead a dynamic class filled with inversions with a duality of restorative and healing sequences.

Before yoga, she was a professional contemporary dancer and established Au Dance ( a dance school for age 2-16) in Vancouver Canada. Her decade-long dance career has taken her around the world including some fond memories touring in India, Egypt, Brazil, and Germany.

Word Smith, doctorate in medical qigong & advanced yoga educator

Word Smith

Word Smith has been practicing the esoteric/healing arts for twenty years. During this time he has delved deeply into Massage, Yoga, Qi gong, Chinese Medicine, Buddhist philosophy and Internal Martial Arts. He holds a Doctorate in Medical Qi Gong, and 500 hrs of Yoga Teacher Training in Dharma Yoga, Bachelor’s in Philosophy, a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, certifications in 5 body work styles. His teachers include Paul Pitchford, Michael Tierra, Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson, Geshe Michael Roach and Sri Dharma Mittra.

He currently lives in Sedona, Arizona translating Chinese and Tibetan and travels the world teaching Yoga, Dharma and Qi Gong.

Mathieu Boldron Annie Au Yoga

Mathieu is an international yoga teacher and avid yoga practitioner. He is a gifted teacher with an incredible soul to spread the love of yoga. His affectionate energy propels a student to advance their own practices and be receptive to learning. Mathieu is known for his precise verbal cues, alignment and adjustments. Mathieu teaches the fundamentals of yoga in the most easy to understand and applicable way. He is most advanced in Vinyasa, Dharma, Ashtanga and Acro Yoga. Samuel Magaziner, more commonly known in the yoga world as Sam Samadhi, has
spent over a thousand hours studying various styles of yoga, ranging from yoga
therapeutics to Dharma Yoga as taught by master teacher Sri Dharma Mittra.

Sam is known for his devotion and spontaneity which reflect in his intuitive, heart-
centered teaching style. He utilizes a unique understanding of the postures along with powerful, hands-on adjustments and verbal cues to effectively guide students into the
depths of yogic sadhana. He often describes his personal introduction into the sacred
science of yoga as a “remembering” of something already known deep within. As such,
Sam attributes most of what he has learned to the earnestness and fiery devotion inside
of which he has practiced.

Although Sam exhibits a considerably advanced practice, his humility, selflessness, and
ability to teach students of all levels is remarkable.
Regardless of Sam’s wide range of explorations and involvement in various traditions
and practices, his heart lies at the feet of his beloved spiritual master, David Spero, who
has awakened Sam to the infinite Bliss of Consciousness through profound
transmission of Para Bhakti (Supreme Devotion), Divine Light, and Kundalini Shakti
(Divine Energy). As a result of sitting with David, Sam has come to realize that it is through Grace, and not merely one’s own efforts, that one awakens to the nature of the Divine Consciousness.

Sam currently holds a 500-hour certificate in Dharma Yoga and teaches locally in
Sedona, Arizona.

Dani Gray, 800hr dharma yoga teacher

Dani Gray has been studying & practicing different movement forms since she was very young. Nearly two decades of intensive dance training set a solid foundation: an understanding of universal & intuitive body alignment, as well as subtle & qualitative movement awareness. When she happened upon her first Dharma Yoga class in 2010, the ground was fertile for rapid expansion – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

She had the distinct privilege to study directly with yoga master, Sri Dharma Mittra, attending his daily Master Practice at his studio in New York City nearly every day for a year (before moving to Arizona in 2013). She completed certification through the Dharma Yoga Center at the 200-hour and 500-hour levels, and will complete her 800-hour certification by September of 2017.

Although she has been devoted to the practice of Dharma Yoga for many years, she has remained open to the unique perspectives of many different styles, including Ashtanga, Bikram & other heated practices, Vinyasa Yoga, and others.

In the last two years, Dani has been a student of the profound spiritual teacher, David Spero, who has sparked a revolution within her consciousness. His transmission-based teaching of Divine Light, Divine Love, and Kundalini-Shakti has had a remarkable effect on her, showing the power & potency of Grace – that effort alone is not sufficient.

Dani’s dynamic presence as a teacher shows itself in her ability to both gently encourage, and ignite ferocity in her group classes. Students often comment that while grounded, focused & direct in her instruction, she has a very soft & feminine energy about her, which facilitates a welcoming atmosphere of exploration, regardless of the student’s level.

She currently teaches public & private classes in Sedona, Arizona, where she lives with her boyfriend & co-teacher, Sam Magaziner.
